CREATIVE ARTS RETREAT

March 3, 2017 - March 5, 2017

It is a rare opportunity to investigate equipment and methods without investing in them. Before buying that home-kiln, make sure you really enjoyed working with precious metal clay!

REC participants will focus on a large, featured project during the day on Saturday. Throughout the weekend, additional projects will be introduced so you can pursue those of particular interest to you. Or try them all! The studio is open for the entire weekend for you to fine-tune your new skills. REC provides projects and endless materials to keep you busy all weekend, but feel free to bring your own projects as well. Take advantage of the creative space, relaxed pace and uninterrupted work time in the REC studio after hours.

QUILTING WEEKEND RETREAT

January 20, 2017 - January 22, 2017

Whether you “know” Lummi Island, or are here for the first time, you will surely recognize an island icon when you see, no, sew one.

Lummi Island is the little white church. Salmon. Madrona trees. Reef net boats. Driftwood. Orcas. Sunsets. Fishing shacks. Beaches. Herons. Fir trees. Mount Baker. The L.I. population sign. Tree frogs.

Quilters from Lummi Island have designed original quilt blocks specifically for this weekend retreat (each block depicts a Lummi Island icon).  Who knows the island any better than its residents?

Start your weekend with a group scavenger hunt to see these iconic sights for yourself, then get ready to sew! REC Retreats takes care of the pesky details like eating and sleeping. (C’mon … you know that once you start sewing, eating becomes an inconvenience!)

In addition to the regular retreat indulgences, you will enjoy:

  • several experienced instructors to help you (creatively or logistically)
  • gorgeous fabrics from which to choose so you can make your project uniquely yours (all materials are included)

MINING FOR GOLD

October 21, 2016 - October 23, 2016

“Mining for Gold” describes the alchemical process of looking into the Shadow of the Unconscious and bringing up forgotten or disconnected parts of the Self.

This weekend retreat focuses on establishing groundedness in the body and shifting into our emerging aspects of Self. It will be an inner-journey of Self Discovery with guidance of nature, art and yoga.

Using Active Imagination, instructors create a safe environment for participants to discover where they “are stuck” and embody what emerges.  Yoga and acupressure will help free the body to experience emotions manifested during this process. Restorative yoga postures will be used to connect the physical experience to the mental/emotional experience of uncovering new archetypal energies.

Multiple instructors bring their rich experiences, contributing to your growth and personal insight. Join Toni Lyons (MSW, LMSW), Georgette Jowdy (storyteller) and Bridget Boylan (PT, LAc, EAMP).

More about the instructors:

Bridget Boylan graduated from Northeastern University with a B.S. in Physical Therapy and earned a license to practice acupuncture from the Wu Hsing Tao School of Five Element Acupuncture. She has studied myofascial release, alchemical acupuncture and aromatherapy. Bridget combines alternative and Western medicine to provide her clients with holistic treatments.

Georgette Jowdy has an extensive background in couples communication and conflict resolution. Georgette is sought out for counsel because she is known for her deep compassion, her regard for the sacredness of all life, and her respect for the courage it takes to be truly human.

Toni Lyons received her Masters in Clinical Social Work from the University of Maryland and has worked as a clinician for 28 years.  Along with advanced intensive training in DBT, Toni has specialized in multiple therapeutic approaches.

October 7, 2016 - October 9, 2016

Homestead for a weekend. Play Pioneer!

This retreat isn’t intended to train you for a life of self-sufficiency, but you will learn a variety of skills that were necessary for survival generations ago. While activities will vary, a balance of arts & crafts, cooking, animal care and outdoor skills will be offered.

There are so many options for activities during this retreat that we will run out of time! As with any retreat, you may choose to join in with the activities, or you may choose to “sit a few out”. You will be very busy, on-the-go from sun-up to sun-down, just like the pioneers!
