When we say "traditional", we really mean "traditional". Instructor and Pie Baker Extraordinaire, Susan Chidester, renders her own lard for her pie crusts (just like bakers did generations ago before Crisco was invented in 1911.) 

While you will not render lard during this full-day workshop, you will learn tips and tricks to make almost-foolproof flakey pastry; roll pastry; craft double crust pies & lattice top pies; make crumb crusts, savory and fruit fillings, cream pies, and more!

At the end of this workshop, you will go home with two vacuum-sealed pie crusts and filling for one fruit pie to save in the freezer:  Save these pie "parts" in the freezer for a special night, or show off your skills at the next holiday meal. 

Class fee includes a delicious lunch of savory hand-pies (that you will make yourself), a start-up pie baking kit (rolling pin, pie pan and pastry blender), all ingredients and a glass of Washington wine to enjoy by the fire at the end of the day. Classes are expected to fill very quickly.
