Could you write your life story in three sentences? (Yes, three sentences…)

Three Things

During this half-day writing workshop, Three Things, Tammy Coia will help you discover three things you simply must write down:

1) Answer the question, “How did you get to where you are today?”

2) Identify the crucial incidents of your life.

3) Examine what truths are important to you.

This focused workshop will help you distill your values, experiences, and truths so they can be communicated in a very concise and deliberate manner. The most difficult part of writing can be deciding what to leave off the page, rather than what to put on it.

By the end of this workshop, tell your life story in an astonishingly complete manner using only three powerful sentences (yes, three sentences…)

Your ultimate writing goal may not be to write only three sentences. That is ok! These exercises will help you clarify your experiences and truths and can help you write a more complete memoir.

Tammy creates a safe and supportive environment in which members of the group trust one another, share* their writing and feel confident that it will be received with compassion. (*Sharing is always optional!)

The focused morning session will lead beautifully into the afternoon session, Legacy Letters. However, you do not need to take the Three Things workshop to benefit from the Legacy Letters workshop. Both sessions are complete when taken separately.

Legacy Letters

What is a Legacy Letter? A Legacy Letter is a document designed to pass values from one generation to the next.

“The generic purpose of the Legacy Letter is to pass on wisdom and love to future generations. Writing can include family history and cultural and spiritual values; blessings and expressions of love for, pride in, hopes and dreams for children and grandchildren; life-lessons and wisdom of life experience; and requests for forgiveness for regretted actions.” (Wikipedia)

During this extraordinary half-day Writer’s Workshop, you will start to write love letters to your friends and family. A handwritten Legacy Letter may be one of the most precious and lasting gifts you can bestow upon your loved ones.

Tammy Coia sensitively guides participants through the Legacy Letter writing process. Be inspired by others’ ideas and share* your writing in a safe and sacred space, surrounded by like-minded writers. (*Sharing is always optional.)
